A 229-year-old Right

Today we are celebrating our 229-year-old right to peacefully assemble with a collection of photos showing people exercising that very right. 

In September of 1787, our Founding Fathers signed the Constitution. Its first amendment gave Americans the right to peacefully assemble, as well as gave Americans the right to free speech and freedom of the press. 

With news of protests sweeping across the states, we wanted to take a moment to look back on moments in history when Americans came together to exercise their First Amendment right. Without a doubt, our country would look very different had we never been granted that right, so many years ago...
